Buyer's notes: Used Handguns
Handguns grouped by action: striker-fired and hammer-fired pistols, double-action and single-action revolvers, and two-shot derringers. For concealed carry most buyers land on a 9mm between 15 and 20 ounces; for the nightstand or the range, a full-size pistol or a 4-inch .357 revolver is easier to shoot well.
Firearms ship to a licensed FFL dealer in your state; ammunition and accessories ship to you where state law allows.
Before you order
- Grip size matters more than brand: hold one at a local shop if you can.
- Optics-ready slides save a gunsmith bill later.
- Check that holsters exist for the exact model and light combination.
Questions buyers ask
Is a revolver or a pistol better for home defence?
A pistol holds more rounds and reloads faster. A revolver is simpler to check and has no manual of arms beyond pulling the trigger. Either is sound if you practise with it.
