Why Buy From Us
Six reasons we get repeat orders from people who know the difference.
Type 01 FFL — Houston
We hold federal license 5-74-201-01-3C-28193 issued out of Houston, Texas. Every firearm shipment originates from our FFL, transfers through your local FFL, and follows ATF Form 4473 procedure to the letter. No gray-market intermediaries.
Specialist Catalog
We don’t try to be everything. Class 3, 80% builds, Knights/Q-pattern uppers, black powder conversions, and the cowboy reproductions you can’t find at a chain. Depth in a few categories beats shallow coverage of all of them.
SOT for NFA Items
Our SOT (Special Occupational Taxpayer) status means we handle Form 4 transfers in-house. Tax-stamp guidance, trust referral to Houston firearms attorneys, and current ATF wait-time updates posted alongside every NFA product.
Honest Inventory
If a product page shows in-stock, it’s physically on our shelf in Houston. We don’t drop-ship and we don’t list items we’d have to source from a distributor after you order. Ships in 1-2 business days for non-NFA items.
Texas-Anchored, Nationwide Reach
We ship to 42 states (full list on the shipping page). Restricted states (CA, NY, NJ, HI, MA, MD, WA, IL) get flagged before checkout — if your state can’t legally receive a specific item, we won’t ship it and we won’t take your money for it.
Real Phone, Real Email
Email [email protected] or call (713) 444-0189 Monday through Friday. There’s a real person on the other end during Houston business hours, not a chatbot or an outsourced call center.
Just Added
Fresh in this week. New arrivals get listed within 24 hours of the inspection-and-photograph cycle in our Houston shop.

Brands We Stock Regularly
A short list of the manufacturers we keep deep inventory on. Not every brand we carry — just the ones we order from week after week.
Build it Right the First Time
If you’ve never finished an 80% frame, the YouTube tutorials are useful but they skim the steps where most people make mistakes — drilling the rear pin holes too deep, milling the rails uneven, or installing the trigger housing pin without seating it. The Polymer80 jig kit gives you the geometry; what it doesn’t give you is the cues for when to stop drilling.
We’ve shipped enough PF-series frames over the years that we’ll throw in setup notes on request. Email [email protected] with your build (PF940V2 / PF940SC / PF940C / PF9SS) and we’ll send the cheat sheet our shop guys use when they assemble a demo.
Common Questions
Pulled from emails we get every week. Longer answers in the full FAQ.
Do I need a license to buy from CS Firearms?
No personal license required. You need to be 21+ for handguns/NFA or 18+ for long guns, a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, and not a federally prohibited person. The receiving FFL runs the NICS background check during transfer.
How does the FFL transfer process work?
You order through us, we ship to your local FFL, you go to their counter with photo ID, they run the NICS check and Form 4473, and you walk out with the firearm. Standard transfer fee at the receiving end is $25-$40 in Texas. Full walkthrough on the how to buy guns in Texas page.
How long do NFA / Form 4 transfers take?
Wait times move with ATF backlog. Recently we’ve seen e-Filed Form 4 trust transfers come back in 30-90 days, and paper individual transfers in 6-12 months. We post current observed wait times on each NFA product page.
What states can’t you ship to?
We ship to 42 states. California, New York, New Jersey, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Maryland, Washington, and Illinois have item-specific restrictions (Polymer80 frames, threaded barrels, >10-round mags) that we won’t try to navigate. Each product page flags state restrictions before you order.
Are Polymer80 frames legal in my state?
Federally yes (since the August 2022 D.C. court ruling against ATF rule 2021R-05F applied narrowly), but several states (CA, NY, NJ, WA, IL) have passed state-level bans or registration requirements. Texas allows them without restriction. Check your state attorney general’s site or call us before ordering.
Do you offer payment plans or financing?
Not currently. We accept credit/debit through our payment processor and crypto via the integrated MoonPay gateway. Orders ship after payment clears — no holds or layaway.
About CS Firearms
CS Firearms is a federally licensed Type 01 FFL dealer (license number 5-74-201-01-3C-28193) operating out of Houston, Texas. We focus on the categories most retail dealers don’t bother with: NFA / Class 3 items including suppressors, short-barreled rifles, machine guns and AOWs; Polymer80 80% frame and jig kits across the entire PF-series; black powder muzzleloaders and 209 primer conversion kits from Traditions and Thompson Center; Knights Armament, Q LLC and B&T tactical and suppressed pistol systems; and a deep inventory of cowboy and Western reproductions from Uberti, Pedersoli and Heritage Manufacturing.
How we differ from a chain dealer
The big-box online retailers carry breadth — every Glock, every Smith & Wesson, every Ruger. We carry depth in a narrow set of categories. If you’re looking for a stripped Knights Armament SR-15 lower receiver, an Uberti 1876 Centennial in 45-75, a Polymer80 PF940SC subcompact with a matching rails kit, or a Sterling Mk4 9mm SMG transferable on a Form 4, you won’t find that depth at a chain dealer. You’ll find it here, often with multiple variants in stock at any given time.
Class 3 / NFA process
We hold Special Occupational Taxpayer (SOT) status, which means we handle Form 4 transfers from our FFL/SOT to your receiving NFA dealer in-house — no third-party intermediaries, no extended hold times waiting for shipment between dealers. We also work with several Houston-area firearms attorneys for gun trust setup, which we recommend for most NFA buyers because it simplifies multi-trustee use and estate transfer.
Black powder & 209 conversions
Black powder firearms — including muzzleloaders, percussion revolvers, and 209-primer conversion kits — fall outside the federal “firearm” definition under the Gun Control Act and ship without an FFL transfer in most states. Our black powder catalog includes the full Traditions and Thompson Center 209 conversion lineup (Lightning, Thunderhawk, Firehawk, Buckhunter, Omega), historical replica revolvers from Uberti, and the Pedersoli Lightning lever-action rifles. Texas does not require any additional state paperwork for black powder firearms.
Texas FFL transfer fees
The transfer fee at your receiving FFL is set by them, not by us. In the Houston and Greater Texas market, transfer fees are typically $25-$40 per firearm, with NFA items running $50-$100 because of the additional Form 4 paperwork the receiving SOT has to complete. Call your receiving dealer ahead of placing the order and ask up front — every shop is different and the fee is independent of what you pay us for the firearm itself.
