The Springfield Armory SA-16 A2 is a full-size 5.56 NATO semi-automatic rifle built around forged 7075-T6 aluminum receivers with Type III hardcoat anodizing. Its 20-inch, 4140 CMV chrome-lined barrel uses a 1:7 twist and is paired with a rifle-length direct-impingement gas system, an A2 pinned gas block, and an A2 flash hider. The rifle includes an A2 polymer handguard with an integral heat shield, an enhanced M16 bolt carrier group with a 9130 steel bolt, a GI-style charging handle, and an Accu-Tite lower receiver tension system.
